BUSINESS: heather pilchard

Heather Pilchard is an amazing artist who needed a major website overhaul. Her site originally was very simple; mostly text based with small thumbnails for each piece, no central navigation, and the color palette was earthy and muted.

For her site redesign, Heather wanted color (blues and greens with orange pop) but didn't have specific direction otherwise. While Heather's primary medium is oil painting, she also does a number of other things. I wanted to showcase this versatility (tackled head on by her homepage, which presents navigation tiles for each artistic medium) then do justice to her work by creating a gallery (see, for example, paintings), with each work presented in large format with thumbnail tiles along the left for the entire collection. A header banner menu offers easy navigation and the "orange pop" serves to make clear to visitors what category and piece they are viewing.
